Hakaru Womens bowls was formed in 1948 at the original site of the mens club of same name at Hakaru.

On the move to Mangawhai it was hoped the the name would change to reflect the location however to date this has not happened.

The Hakaru Bowls play a major part in the Mangawhai Club umbrella in catering for events and providing a great cross section of gender.
