From a small beginning four years ago (6 people) the Petanque Club has gone from strength to strength. On a typical Club day there can be up to 48 players on the terrains.
We are well served with 8 terrains that have been upgraded – the base is lime rock, then crushed shells have been scattered so this combines well for a very competitive surface.
Winter Petanque commences after daylight saving finishes, and runs each Sunday from 2.00 to 3.00pm. We also enjoy hosting visiting clubs and have had several visits from Northland Clubs. The Club has Petanque Boule available to use should you wish to have a game when visiting The Club.
Each Thursday after Labour Week End Summer Petanque is played from 6.00pm to 7.00pm. Membership is free however, unless you are a visitor, you need to belong to the Mangawhai Club. A nominal fee ($2 pp) is charged to play Petanque each week and there are fun prizes to be won. Our Petanque meeting is a relaxed and social gathering. (No experience needed to join us).
